Kinship - Preparing for the Pyrocene
Daryl is an advocate of deep participatory democracy, subsidiary and commons governance and community development. Darryl teaches and works in community mental health. Alongside family and friends, Darryl survived the Black Saturday firestorm, after which he worked in disaster recovery and served on a community recovery committee. Darryl has written and presented extensively on disaster dynamics (the emotional and political landscapes of real and confected crises - hyper-consumerism, economic depression, energy descent, climate disruption, 'natural' disaster, ecosystem collapse, techno-utopian distraction, civic disengagement, demographic transition). He designs training and hosts workshops on multifaceted preparedness with Permaculture co-founder, David Holmgren. With a bevvy of contributors, Darryl is building a climate and disaster-resilient earthship for the pyrocene called 'Kinship', in fire-prone Kinglake in Victoria.
