Pete Cuming is a renaissance man - a visionary urban and regional planner, designer, educator and activist with 35 years experience in Australia, and internationally working with many cultures, including first nation peoples, guiding and supporting communities, governments, and businesses collaboratively towards sustainability, and regenerative action. Founder, in 1987, and MD of award-winning Sustainable Futures Australia and director of Foresthaven Environmental Education Centre, he is an executive member of EAROPH, an international sustainable human settlement planning organisation; and global advisor to the UN Habitat Sustainable Cities Program. He is project manager and planner for an urban based eco-village project on the NSW north coast which after 4 years work has approval and is about to become a reality. Pete has high-level policy and advisory experience in government, and as chair/facilitator and member of resource management, nature conservation, health and education boards, and was an elected NSW local government councillor at the age of 27 in the 1980s. As a senior lecturer in Sustainability and Environmental Action programs for nearly 20 years and teacher of a wide range of courses in sustainable living, ecovillage design and nature connection, he is a passionate mentor empowering positive change agents to work within and reshape our human systems. He is recipient of national and international awards including the International Permaculture Service Award. A long time surfer, sailor, and earth regenerator, Pete synthesises 4 decades of experience in a range of healing, alignment and shamanic arts into his life work. As a musician-composer, he records and performs as PeterSea with electronic artists such as Nalepa, Karyyn and RyX in LA, and Alex van Ratingen in Cologne, exploring darkness and light, and the in-between. Life is about living our potential, exploring who we are, supporting each other, seeking to live in harmony with the earth, its life and all sentient beings.
